On one project adjacent to a row of locally listed terraces, a client approached us following a negative pre-application advice response to a contemporary proposal by another architect. By revisiting the scheme and aligning it with the proportions, detailing and façade rhythm of the neighbouring terraces, we responded directly to the historic context. The revised approach led to positive follow-up pre-application advice and ultimately full planning approval for a scheme maximising quality floor area.
